#1 Movie in America
Have you seen The Blind Side yet? Wow. The number one movie in America is the number one way to get an idea about what GIVE A SHIRT is all about. The Blind Side is an extraordinary true story and its summary is listed below.
Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw and Kathy Bates star in Alcon Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures’ “The Blind Side,” which depicts the remarkable true story of All-American football star Michael Oher. Teenager Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron) is surviving on his own, virtually homeless, when he is spotted on the street by Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock). Learning that the young man is one of her daughter’s classmates, Leigh Anne insists that Michael—wearing shorts and a t-shirt in the dead of winter—come out of the cold. Without a moment’s hesitation, she invites him to stay at the Tuohy home for the night. What starts out as a gesture of kindness becomes much more as Michael becomes part of the Tuohy family despite the differences in their backgrounds. Living in his new environment, the teen faces a completely different set of challenges to overcome. And as the family helps Michael fulfill his potential, both on and off the football field, Michael’s presence in the Tuohys’ lives leads them to some insightful self-discoveries of their own.
Do yourself a favor and watch this movie. Then, do someone else a favor and get 10 friends to do similar kinds of things to similar kinds of students. Get one for yourself. Get one for your friend. Get one for your dad. Get one!

Wow!! Talk about missing the mark. Don’t get me wrong this is a good idea but a CAUSE…Giving students a shirt?? What about giving hope and purpose by exposing them to the truth of Jesus Christ? Yeah, yeah this may be a path to doing that and it is essential to meet percieved needs but…. Why conceal that this is a church youth groups idea? Are you ashamed of God? Come on? Why hide the truth?
//Here is a CAUSE: Having all youth in Salem/ Kiezer exposed to the truth so they may know and grow into who they are in Christ. Having a youth group (church) with its people, programs and products to focus on the CAUSE of Jesus Christ. Not just some social justice idea.
What about wholeheartedly believing in God’s plan for tweens/teenagers and endeavor the cause of Jesus Christ? But NOOOOOOO you want to give them a shirt!!! How sad.

Whoa!!
I did not realize that posting would be direct and immediate.
Not my intention to rip this concept up…
Its just that I hoped for and expected something with more substance and emphasis on Christ. And got a shirt. One that is totally unoriginal in its design (a lame copy of TWLOHA and United Live shirts just to name two) to. And, well I give a shirt is a little close to the phrase “…give a Sh%t” But I guess that is by design. Why though? And just how does the movie The Blind Side tie in? Yes I have seen it. What is the CAUSE here? To get all those shirtless teens on the streets a shirt? Sad, sad, sad!
